Bingen am Rhein, Germany, 29 October 2026: The Royal Television Society Technology Centre (RTS) presented its 2026 Special Recognition Award to Newsmax, Newsmax Ukraine, Broadcast Solutions and nxtedition. This prestigious award recognises the real challenges in successfully creating a complete news broadcaster, from scratch, in a country at war.

The project brought together four partners: Newsmax, the parent company and a leading cable news channel in the USA; Newsmax Ukraine, led by CEO Ludmila Nemyria; Broadcast Solutions, one of the largest systems integrators in Europe; and nxtedition, providing the core newsroom technology platform.

“Building a modern, efficient, highly productive newsroom sounds like an unremarkable, if complex, project,” said Laurent Mairet, Managing Partner Broadcast Solutions MENA. “What made Newsmax Ukraine remarkable was executing it in the midst of an ongoing war, with all that implies from security and safety to travel challenges and infrastructure uncertainties.”

Roger Persson, Head of Sales and Marketing at nxtedition, added “One of the critical implications of this was the unchallenged necessity for remote collaboration, in design, integration and implementation, as well as in use. Although we were frequently separated by thousands of kilometres, we had to work together to build not just the technological platform but the workflows and culture of a brand-new newsroom – the equipment and the people grew into Newsmax Ukraine together.”

Broadcast Solutions and nxtedition worked closely together to implement a modern, software-centric newsroom centre in Kyiv, designed to support efficient editorial operations. Defined by the nature of the news the broadcaster would be reporting, as well as the war-torn environment of the home city and country, the platform had to be readily transportable, so that should the current building become untenable or under threat, the whole operation could be moved quickly to another location without significant disruption.

The nxtedition platform is designed for newsrooms and production centres, giving a completely frictionless environment for journalists and editors, allowing them to focus on the stories they have to tell, helping them to get their message out quickly and accurately.

Broadcast Solutions, as the integration partner, was the technology enabler, designing the entire broadcast architecture and IT systems. That included the logistic challenges of delivering equipment into a country at war and providing the technical and operational training under the challenging conditions.

“Establishing a new media offering is a significant undertaking at any time,” said Ludmila Nemyria, CEO at Newsmax Ukraine. “Bringing a fresh news voice to a country defending itself added challenge upon challenge. Our goal was simply to tell our stories in the way we saw best to audiences speaking Ukrainian, Russian and English.

“Broadcast Solutions understood our requirements right from the start and provided invaluable support from our first blank sheets of paper,” Nemyria said. “In particular, they demonstrated to us how effectively nxtedition provided all the editorial support we needed, in a completely intuitive way, and with AI assistance where appropriate to make our operations even more seamless.

“Together, we designed the newsroom, developed workflows and established our editorial voice, getting Newsmax Ukraine on air and online in just months from initial concepts,” she said. “Under the very special circumstances of life in Kyiv, that is an extraordinary achievement, and I thank our lead partners Broadcast Solutions and nxtedition.”

The project was described in an IBC paper, “From blueprint to broadcast”, presented on 13 September 2026, which captured the attention of the RTS. Its Special Recognition Award was presented at a ceremony on 22 October 2026. Chair of the RTS, Kim Rowell, said “Building a complete news operation from scratch, in just a few months, is always a major undertaking: delivering it in wartime, while co-ordinating teams, equipment, installation and training makes the achievement truly outstanding.

“We are proud to recognise this collaboration, commitment and determination it took to complete this project,” she said. “It shows what the best broadcast technology can do when it is put to work with a clear purpose and a higher goal.”

Quentin Ankri, Vice President Partnerships & Distribution at Newsmax, said “Recognition from the RTS is an important milestone for the whole partnership, reflecting the extraordinary commitment from everyone to deliver this project in wartime, and to the determination of Ludmila and her team in Kyiv.

“Newsmax Ukraine reflects our approach to local partnerships,” he added. “It combines the strength of the Newsmax network with local editorial leadership and the expertise of our technology partners.”
